Q: When you hit a hybrid, are you supposed to hit it the same way as you would hit a fairway wood? or an iron?

A: The swing mechanics are all the same for irons, hybrids, and fairway woods. As the club gets longer and heavier, your body motion will get bigger, your rhythm will slow down by a fraction, and the upper body and lower body will have more separation. That means with longer clubs, you have to drive through with the legs and obliques more and the hands have to come down later to create the separation. Some people hit the hybrids like they would hit an iron and works fine, but others have to feel like they are hitting a fairway wood. It all depends on how well your body adjusts to a different length club.
